SUMMARY:Sunday Worship
DESCRIPTION:Luke 24:13-16\n\n\n13  That same day two of Jesus’ followers were walking to the\n\n\nvillage of Emmaus\, seven miles from Jerusalem.  14  As they walked\n\n\nalong they were talking about everything that had happened.  15  As\n\n\nthey talked and discussed these things\, Jesus himself suddenly\n\n\ncame and began walking with them.  16  But God kept them from\n\n\nrecognizing him.\n\n\n \n\n\nLuke 24:17-24\n\n\n17  He asked them\, “What are you discussing so intently as you\n\n\nwalk along?”\n\n\nThey stopped short\, sadness written across their faces.  18  Then\n\n\none of them\, Cleopas\, replied\, “You must be the only person in\n\n\nJerusalem who hasn’t heard about all the things that have\n\n\nhappened there the last few days.”\n\n\n19  “What things?” Jesus asked.\n\n\n“The things that happened to Jesus\, the man from Nazareth\,” they\n\n\nsaid. “He was a prophet who did powerful miracles\, and he was a\n\n\nmighty teacher in the eyes of God and all the people.  20  But our\n\n\nleading priests and other religious leaders handed him over to be\n\n\ncondemned to death\, and they crucified him.  21  We had hoped he\n\n\nwas the Messiah who had come to rescue Israel. This all\n\n\nhappened three days ago.\n\n\n22  “Then some women from our group of his followers were at his\n\n\ntomb early this morning\, and they came back with an amazing\n\n\nreport.  23  They said his body was missing\, and they had seen\n\n\nangels who told them Jesus is alive!  24  Some of our men ran out to\n\n\nsee\, and sure enough\, his body was gone\, just as the women had\n\n\nsaid.”\n\n\n \n\n\nLuke 24:25-27\n\n\n25  Then Jesus said to them\, “You foolish people! You find it so\n\n\nhard to believe all that the prophets wrote in the\n\n\nScriptures.  26  Wasn’t it clearly predicted that the Messiah would\n\n\nhave to suffer all these things before entering his glory?”  27  Then\n\n\nJesus took them through the writings of Moses and all the\n\n\nprophets\, explaining from all the Scriptures the things concerning\n\n\nhimself.\n\n\n \n\n\nLuke 24:28-35\n\n\n28  By this time they were nearing Emmaus and the end of their\n\n\njourney. Jesus acted as if he were going on\,  29  but they begged\n\n\nhim\, “Stay the night with us\, since it is getting late.” So he went\n\n\nhome with them.  30  As they sat down to eat\, he took the bread and\n\n\nblessed it. Then he broke it and gave it to them.  31  Suddenly\, their\n\n\neyes were opened\, and they recognized him. And at that moment\n\n\nhe disappeared!\n\n\n32  They said to each other\, “Didn’t our hearts burn within us as he\n\n\ntalked with us on the road and explained the Scriptures to\n\n\nus?”  33  And within the hour they were on their way back to\n\n\nJerusalem. There they found the eleven disciples and the others\n\n\nwho had gathered with them\,  34  who said\, “The Lord has really\n\n\nrisen! He appeared to Peter.”\n\n\n35  Then the two from Emmaus told their story of how Jesus had\n\n\nappeared to them as they were walking along the road\, and how\n\n\nthey had recognized him as he was breaking the bread.\n\n\n \n\n\nRomans 15:13\n\n\n13  I pray that God\, the source of hope\, will fill you completely with\n\n\njoy and peace because you trust in him. Then you will overflow\n\n\nwith confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit.\n\n\n \n\n\nI Peter 1:3-9\n\n\n3  All praise to God\, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. It is by his\n\n\ngreat mercy that we have been born again\, because God raised\n\n\nJesus Christ from the dead. Now we live with great\n\n\nexpectation\,  4  and we have a priceless inheritance—an\n\n\ninheritance that is kept in heaven for you\, pure and undefiled\,\n\n\nbeyond the reach of change and decay.  5  And through your faith\,\n\n\nGod is protecting you by his power until you receive this salvation\,\n\n\nwhich is ready to be revealed on the last day for all to see.\n\n\n6  So be truly glad. There is wonderful joy ahead\, even though you\n\n\nmust endure many trials for a little while.  7  These trials will show\n\n\nthat your faith is genuine. It is being tested as fire tests and\n\n\npurifies gold—though your faith is far more precious than mere\n\n\ngold. So when your faith remains strong through many trials\, it will\n\n\nbring you much praise and glory and honor on the day when\n\n\nJesus Christ is revealed to the whole world.\n\n\n8  You love him even though you have never seen him. Though\n\n\nyou do not see him now\, you trust him; and you rejoice with a\n\n\nglorious\, inexpressible joy.  9  The reward for trusting him will be the\n\n\nsalvation of your souls.
