SUMMARY:Sunday Worship
DESCRIPTION:Jeremiah 29:1-14\n\n\n1  Jeremiah wrote a letter from Jerusalem to the elders\, priests\,\n\n\nprophets\, and all the people who had been exiled to Babylon by\n\n\nKing Nebuchadnezzar.  2  This was after King Jehoiachin\, the\n\n\nqueen mother\, the court officials\, the other officials of Judah\, and\n\n\nall the craftsmen and artisans had been deported from\n\n\nJerusalem.  3  He sent the letter with Elasah son of Shaphan and\n\n\nGemariah son of Hilkiah when they went to Babylon as King\n\n\nZedekiah’s ambassadors to Nebuchadnezzar. This is what\n\n\nJeremiah’s letter said:\n\n\n4  This is what the Lord of Heaven’s Armies\, the God of Israel\, says\n\n\nto all the captives he has exiled to Babylon from\n\n\nJerusalem:  5  “Build homes\, and plan to stay. Plant gardens\, and\n\n\neat the food they produce.  6  Marry and have children. Then find\n\n\nspouses for them so that you may have many grandchildren.\n\n\nMultiply! Do not dwindle away!  7  And work for the peace and\n\n\nprosperity of the city where I sent you into exile. Pray to\n\n\nthe Lord for it\, for its welfare will determine your welfare.”\n\n\n8  This is what the Lord of Heaven’s Armies\, the God of Israel\,\n\n\nsays: “Do not let your prophets and fortune-tellers who are with\n\n\nyou in the land of Babylon trick you. Do not listen to their\n\n\ndreams\,  9  because they are telling you lies in my name. I have not\n\n\nsent them\,” says the Lord.\n\n\n10  This is what the Lord says: “You will be in Babylon for seventy\n\n\nyears. But then I will come and do for you all the good things I\n\n\nhave promised\, and I will bring you home again.  11  For I know the\n\n\nplans I have for you\,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and\n\n\nnot for disaster\, to give you a future and a hope.  12  In those days\n\n\nwhen you pray\, I will listen.  13  If you look for me wholeheartedly\,\n\n\nyou will find me.  14  I will be found by you\,” says the Lord. “I will end\n\n\nyour captivity and restore your fortunes. I will gather you out of the\n\n\nnations where I sent you and will bring you home again to your\n\n\nown land.”\n\n\n \n\n\nIsaiah 43:14-21\n\n\n14  This is what the Lord says—your Redeemer\, the Holy One of\n\n\nIsrael:\n\n\n“For your sakes I will send an army against Babylon\,\n\n\n    forcing the Babylonians to flee in those ships they are so proud\n\n\nof.\n\n\n15  I am the Lord\, your Holy One\,\n\n\n    Israel’s Creator and King.\n\n\n16  I am the Lord\, who opened a way through the waters\,\n\n\n    making a dry path through the sea.\n\n\n17  I called forth the mighty army of Egypt\n\n\n    with all its chariots and horses.\n\n\nI drew them beneath the waves\, and they drowned\,\n\n\n    their lives snuffed out like a smoldering candlewick.\n\n\n18  “But forget all that—\n\n\n    it is nothing compared to what I am going to do.\n\n\n19  For I am about to do something new.\n\n\n    See\, I have already begun! Do you not see it?\n\n\nI will make a pathway through the wilderness.\n\n\n    I will create rivers in the dry wasteland.\n\n\n20  The wild animals in the fields will thank me\,\n\n\n    the jackals and owls\, too\,\n\n\n    for giving them water in the desert.\n\n\nYes\, I will make rivers in the dry wasteland\n\n\n    so my chosen people can be refreshed.\n\n\n21  I have made Israel for myself\,\n\n\n    and they will someday honor me before the whole world.\n\n\n \n\n\nRomans 8:18-25\n\n\n18  Yet what we suffer now is nothing compared to the glory he will\n\n\nreveal to us later.  19  For all creation is waiting eagerly for that\n\n\nfuture day when God will reveal who his children really\n\n\nare.  20  Against its will\, all creation was subjected to God’s curse.\n\n\nBut with eager hope\,  21  the creation looks forward to the day when\n\n\nit will join God’s children in glorious freedom from death and\n\n\ndecay.  22  For we know that all creation has been groaning as in\n\n\nthe pains of childbirth right up to the present time.  23  And we\n\n\nbelievers also groan\, even though we have the Holy Spirit within\n\n\nus as a foretaste of future glory\, for we long for our bodies to be\n\n\nreleased from sin and suffering. We\, too\, wait with eager hope for\n\n\nthe day when God will give us our full rights as his adopted\n\n\nchildren\, including the new bodies he has promised us.  24  We were\n\n\ngiven this hope when we were saved. (If we already have\n\n\nsomething\, we don’t need to hope for it.  25  But if we look forward to\n\n\nsomething we don’t yet have\, we must wait patiently and\n\n\nconfidently.)\n\n\n \n\n\nRevelation 21:1-5\n\n\n1  Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth\, for the old heaven\n\n\nand the old earth had disappeared. And the sea was also\n\n\ngone.  2  And I saw the holy city\, the new Jerusalem\, coming down\n\n\nfrom God out of heaven like a bride beautifully dressed for her\n\n\nhusband.\n\n\n3  I heard a loud shout from the throne\, saying\, “Look\, God’s home\n\n\nis now among his people! He will live with them\, and they will be\n\n\nhis people. God himself will be with them.  4  He will wipe every tear\n\n\nfrom their eyes\, and there will be no more death or sorrow or\n\n\ncrying or pain. All these things are gone forever.”\n\n\n5  And the one sitting on the throne said\, “Look\, I am making\n\n\neverything new!” And then he said to me\, “Write this down\, for\n\n\nwhat I tell you is trustworthy and true.

SUMMARY:Sunday Worship
DESCRIPTION:Joel 2:21-27\n\n\n21   Don’t be afraid\, O land.\n\n\nBe glad now and rejoice\,\n\n\n    for the Lord has done great things.\n\n\n22  Don’t be afraid\, you animals of the field\,\n\n\n    for the wilderness pastures will soon be green.\n\n\nThe trees will again be filled with fruit;\n\n\n    fig trees and grapevines will be loaded down once more.\n\n\n23  Rejoice\, you people of Jerusalem!\n\n\n    Rejoice in the Lord your God!\n\n\nFor the rain he sends demonstrates his faithfulness.\n\n\n    Once more the autumn rains will come\,\n\n\n    as well as the rains of spring.\n\n\n24  The threshing floors will again be piled high with grain\,\n\n\n    and the presses will overflow with new wine and olive oil.\n\n\n25  The Lord says\, “I will give you back what you lost\n\n\n    to the swarming locusts\, the hopping locusts\,\n\n\nthe stripping locusts\, and the cutting locusts.\n\n\n    It was I who sent this great destroying army against you.\n\n\n26  Once again you will have all the food you want\,\n\n\n    and you will praise the Lord your God\,\n\n\nwho does these miracles for you.\n\n\n    Never again will my people be disgraced.\n\n\n27  Then you will know that I am among my people Israel\,\n\n\n    that I am the Lord your God\, and there is no other.\n\n\n    Never again will my people be disgraced.\n\n\n \n\n\nEzekiel 37:1-14\n\n\n1  The Lord took hold of me\, and I was carried away by the Spirit of\n\n\nthe Lord to a valley filled with bones.  2  He led me all around\n\n\namong the bones that covered the valley floor. They were\n\n\nscattered everywhere across the ground and were completely\n\n\ndried out.  3  Then he asked me\, “Son of man\, can these bones\n\n\nbecome living people again?”\n\n\n“O Sovereign Lord\,” I replied\, “you alone know the answer to\n\n\nthat.”\n\n\n4  Then he said to me\, “Speak a prophetic message to these bones\n\n\nand say\, ‘Dry bones\, listen to the word of the Lord!  5  This is what\n\n\nthe Sovereign Lord says: Look! I am going to put breath into you\n\n\nand make you live again!  6  I will put flesh and muscles on you and\n\n\ncover you with skin. I will put breath into you\, and you will come to\n\n\nlife. Then you will know that I am the Lord.’”\n\n\n7  So I spoke this message\, just as he told me. Suddenly as I\n\n\nspoke\, there was a rattling noise all across the valley. The bones\n\n\nof each body came together and attached themselves as\n\n\ncomplete skeletons.  8  Then as I watched\, muscles and flesh\n\n\nformed over the bones. Then skin formed to cover their bodies\,\n\n\nbut they still had no breath in them.\n\n\n9  Then he said to me\, “Speak a prophetic message to the winds\,\n\n\nson of man. Speak a prophetic message and say\, ‘This is what\n\n\nthe Sovereign Lord says: Come\, O breath\, from the four winds!\n\n\nBreathe into these dead bodies so they may live again.’”\n\n\n10  So I spoke the message as he commanded me\, and breath\n\n\ncame into their bodies. They all came to life and stood up on their\n\n\nfeet—a great army.\n\n\n11  Then he said to me\, “Son of man\, these bones represent the\n\n\npeople of Israel. They are saying\, ‘We have become old\, dry\n\n\nbones—all hope is gone. Our nation is finished.’  12  Therefore\,\n\n\nprophesy to them and say\, ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says:\n\n\nO my people\, I will open your graves of exile and cause you to\n\n\nrise again. Then I will bring you back to the land of Israel.  13  When\n\n\nthis happens\, O my people\, you will know that I am the Lord.  14  I\n\n\nwill put my Spirit in you\, and you will live again and return home to\n\n\nyour own land. Then you will know that I\, the Lord\, have spoken\,\n\n\nand I have done what I said. Yes\, the Lord has spoken!’”\n\n\n \n\n\n1 Peter 1:3-9\n\n\n3  All praise to God\, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. It is by his\n\n\ngreat mercy that we have been born again\, because God raised\n\n\nJesus Christ from the dead. Now we live with great\n\n\nexpectation\,  4  and we have a priceless inheritance—an\n\n\ninheritance that is kept in heaven for you\, pure and undefiled\,\n\n\nbeyond the reach of change and decay.  5  And through your faith\,\n\n\nGod is protecting you by his power until you receive this salvation\,\n\n\nwhich is ready to be revealed on the last day for all to see.\n\n\n6  So be truly glad. There is wonderful joy ahead\, even though you\n\n\nmust endure many trials for a little while.  7  These trials will show\n\n\nthat your faith is genuine. It is being tested as fire tests and\n\n\npurifies gold—though your faith is far more precious than mere\n\n\ngold. So when your faith remains strong through many trials\, it will\n\n\nbring you much praise and glory and honor on the day when\n\n\nJesus Christ is revealed to the whole world.\n\n\n8  You love him even though you have never seen him. Though\n\n\nyou do not see him now\, you trust him; and you rejoice with a\n\n\nglorious\, inexpressible joy.  9  The reward for trusting him will be the\n\n\nsalvation of your souls.\n\n\n \n\n\nRevelation 19:1-8\n\n\n1  After this\, I heard what sounded like a vast crowd in heaven\n\n\nshouting\,\n\n\n“Praise the Lord!\n\n\n    Salvation and glory and power belong to our God.\n\n\n2  His judgments are true and just.\n\n\n    He has punished the great prostitute\n\n\nwho corrupted the earth with her immorality.\n\n\n    He has avenged the murder of his servants.”\n\n\n3  And again their voices rang out:\n\n\n“Praise the Lord!\n\n\n    The smoke from that city ascends forever and ever!”\n\n\n4  Then the twenty-four elders and the four living beings fell down\n\n\nand worshiped God\, who was sitting on the throne. They cried\n\n\nout\, “Amen! Praise the Lord!”\n\n\n5  And from the throne came a voice that said\,\n\n\n“Praise our God\,\n\n\n    all his servants\,\n\n\nall who fear him\,\n\n\n    from the least to the greatest.”\n\n\n6  Then I heard again what sounded like the shout of a vast crowd\n\n\nor the roar of mighty ocean waves or the crash of loud thunder:\n\n\n“Praise the Lord!\n\n\n    For the Lord our God\, the Almighty\, reigns.\n\n\n7  Let us be glad and rejoice\,\n\n\n    and let us give honor to him.\n\n\nFor the time has come for the wedding feast of the Lamb\,\n\n\n    and his bride has prepared herself.\n\n\n8  She has been given the finest of pure white linen to wear.”\n\n\n    For the fine linen represents the good deeds of God’s holy\n\n\npeople.

SUMMARY:Sunday Worship
DESCRIPTION:2 Chronicles 20:1-12\n\n\n1  After this\, the armies of the Moabites\, Ammonites\, and some of\n\n\nthe Meunites declared war on Jehoshaphat.  2  Messengers came\n\n\nand told Jehoshaphat\, “A vast army from Edom is marching\n\n\nagainst you from beyond the Dead Sea. They are already at\n\n\nHazazon-tamar.” (This was another name for En-gedi.)\n\n\n3  Jehoshaphat was terrified by this news and begged the Lord for\n\n\nguidance. He also ordered everyone in Judah to begin\n\n\nfasting.  4  So people from all the towns of Judah came to\n\n\nJerusalem to seek the Lord’s help.\n\n\n5  Jehoshaphat stood before the community of Judah and\n\n\nJerusalem in front of the new courtyard at the Temple of\n\n\nthe Lord.  6  He prayed\, “O Lord\, God of our ancestors\, you alone\n\n\nare the God who is in heaven. You are ruler of all the kingdoms of\n\n\nthe earth. You are powerful and mighty; no one can stand against\n\n\nyou!  7  O our God\, did you not drive out those who lived in this land\n\n\nwhen your people Israel arrived? And did you not give this land\n\n\nforever to the descendants of your friend Abraham?  8  Your people\n\n\nsettled here and built this Temple to honor your name.  9  They\n\n\nsaid\, ‘Whenever we are faced with any calamity such as\n\n\nwar\, plague\, or famine\, we can come to stand in your presence\n\n\nbefore this Temple where your name is honored. We can cry out\n\n\nto you to save us\, and you will hear us and rescue us.’\n\n\n10  “And now see what the armies of Ammon\, Moab\, and Mount\n\n\nSeir are doing. You would not let our ancestors invade those\n\n\nnations when Israel left Egypt\, so they went around them and did\n\n\nnot destroy them.  11  Now see how they reward us! For they have\n\n\ncome to throw us out of your land\, which you gave us as an\n\n\ninheritance.  12  O our God\, won’t you stop them? We are powerless\n\n\nagainst this mighty army that is about to attack us. We do not\n\n\nknow what to do\, but we are looking to you for help.”\n\n\n \n\n\n2 Chronicles 20:13-22\n\n\n13  As all the men of Judah stood before the Lord with their little\n\n\nones\, wives\, and children\,  14  the Spirit of the Lord came upon one\n\n\nof the men standing there. His name was Jahaziel son of\n\n\nZechariah\, son of Benaiah\, son of Jeiel\, son of Mattaniah\, a\n\n\nLevite who was a descendant of Asaph.\n\n\n15  He said\, “Listen\, all you people of Judah and Jerusalem! Listen\,\n\n\nKing Jehoshaphat! This is what the Lord says: Do not be afraid!\n\n\nDon’t be discouraged by this mighty army\, for the battle is not\n\n\nyours\, but God’s.  16  Tomorrow\, march out against them. You will\n\n\nfind them coming up through the ascent of Ziz at the end of the\n\n\nvalley that opens into the wilderness of Jeruel.  17  But you will not\n\n\neven need to fight. Take your positions; then stand still and watch\n\n\nthe Lord’s victory. He is with you\, O people of Judah and\n\n\nJerusalem. Do not be afraid or discouraged. Go out against them\n\n\ntomorrow\, for the Lord is with you!”\n\n\n18  Then King Jehoshaphat bowed low with his face to the ground.\n\n\nAnd all the people of Judah and Jerusalem did the same\,\n\n\nworshiping the Lord.  19  Then the Levites from the clans of Kohath\n\n\nand Korah stood to praise the Lord\, the God of Israel\, with a very\n\n\nloud shout.\n\n\n20  Early the next morning the army of Judah went out into the\n\n\nwilderness of Tekoa. On the way Jehoshaphat stopped and said\,\n\n\n“Listen to me\, all you people of Judah and Jerusalem! Believe in\n\n\nthe Lord your God\, and you will be able to stand firm. Believe in\n\n\nhis prophets\, and you will succeed.”\n\n\n21  After consulting the people\, the king appointed singers to walk\n\n\nahead of the army\, singing to the Lord and praising him for his\n\n\nholy splendor. This is what they sang:\n\n\n“Give thanks to the Lord;\n\n\n    his faithful love endures forever!”\n\n\n22  At the very moment they began to sing and give praise\,\n\n\nthe Lord caused the armies of Ammon\, Moab\, and Mount Seir to\n\n\nstart fighting among themselves.\n\n\n \n\n\nEphesians 6:10-18\n\n\n10  A final word: Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty\n\n\npower.  11  Put on all of God’s armor so that you will be able to\n\n\nstand firm against all strategies of the devil.  12  For we [a]  are not\n\n\nfighting against flesh-and-blood enemies\, but against evil rulers\n\n\nand authorities of the unseen world\, against mighty powers in this\n\n\ndark world\, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places.\n\n\n13  Therefore\, put on every piece of God’s armor so you will be able\n\n\nto resist the enemy in the time of evil. Then after the battle you\n\n\nwill still be standing firm.  14  Stand your ground\, putting on the belt\n\n\nof truth and the body armor of God’s righteousness.  15  For shoes\,\n\n\nput on the peace that comes from the Good News so that you will\n\n\nbe fully prepared. [b]   16  In addition to all of these\, hold up the shield\n\n\nof faith to stop the fiery arrows of the devil. [c]   17  Put on salvation as\n\n\nyour helmet\, and take the sword of the Spirit\, which is the word of\n\n\nGod.\n\n\n18  Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert\n\n\nand be persistent in your prayers for all believers everywhere.\n\n\n \n\n\nActs 16:22-34\n\n\n22  A mob quickly formed against Paul and Silas\, and the city\n\n\nofficials ordered them stripped and beaten with wooden\n\n\nrods.  23  They were severely beaten\, and then they were thrown\n\n\ninto prison. The jailer was ordered to make sure they didn’t\n\n\nescape.  24  So the jailer put them into the inner dungeon and\n\n\nclamped their feet in the stocks.\n\n\n25  Around midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing\n\n\nhymns to God\, and the other prisoners were listening.  26  Suddenly\,\n\n\nthere was a massive earthquake\, and the prison was shaken to its\n\n\nfoundations. All the doors immediately flew open\, and the chains\n\n\nof every prisoner fell off!  27  The jailer woke up to see the prison\n\n\ndoors wide open. He assumed the prisoners had escaped\, so he\n\n\ndrew his sword to kill himself.  28  But Paul shouted to him\, “Stop!\n\n\nDon’t kill yourself! We are all here!”\n\n\n29  The jailer called for lights and ran to the dungeon and fell down\n\n\ntrembling before Paul and Silas.  30  Then he brought them out and\n\n\nasked\, “Sirs\, what must I do to be saved?”\n\n\n31  They replied\, “Believe in the Lord Jesus and you will be saved\,\n\n\nalong with everyone in your household.”  32  And they shared the\n\n\nword of the Lord with him and with all who lived in his\n\n\nhousehold.  33  Even at that hour of the night\, the jailer cared for\n\n\nthem and washed their wounds. Then he and everyone in his\n\n\nhousehold were immediately baptized.  34  He brought them into his\n\n\nhouse and set a meal before them\, and he and his entire\n\n\nhousehold rejoiced because they all believed in God.
