SUMMARY:Sunday Worship
DESCRIPTION:2 Chronicles 20:1-12\n\n\n1  After this\, the armies of the Moabites\, Ammonites\, and some of\n\n\nthe Meunites declared war on Jehoshaphat.  2  Messengers came\n\n\nand told Jehoshaphat\, “A vast army from Edom is marching\n\n\nagainst you from beyond the Dead Sea. They are already at\n\n\nHazazon-tamar.” (This was another name for En-gedi.)\n\n\n3  Jehoshaphat was terrified by this news and begged the Lord for\n\n\nguidance. He also ordered everyone in Judah to begin\n\n\nfasting.  4  So people from all the towns of Judah came to\n\n\nJerusalem to seek the Lord’s help.\n\n\n5  Jehoshaphat stood before the community of Judah and\n\n\nJerusalem in front of the new courtyard at the Temple of\n\n\nthe Lord.  6  He prayed\, “O Lord\, God of our ancestors\, you alone\n\n\nare the God who is in heaven. You are ruler of all the kingdoms of\n\n\nthe earth. You are powerful and mighty; no one can stand against\n\n\nyou!  7  O our God\, did you not drive out those who lived in this land\n\n\nwhen your people Israel arrived? And did you not give this land\n\n\nforever to the descendants of your friend Abraham?  8  Your people\n\n\nsettled here and built this Temple to honor your name.  9  They\n\n\nsaid\, ‘Whenever we are faced with any calamity such as\n\n\nwar\, plague\, or famine\, we can come to stand in your presence\n\n\nbefore this Temple where your name is honored. We can cry out\n\n\nto you to save us\, and you will hear us and rescue us.’\n\n\n10  “And now see what the armies of Ammon\, Moab\, and Mount\n\n\nSeir are doing. You would not let our ancestors invade those\n\n\nnations when Israel left Egypt\, so they went around them and did\n\n\nnot destroy them.  11  Now see how they reward us! For they have\n\n\ncome to throw us out of your land\, which you gave us as an\n\n\ninheritance.  12  O our God\, won’t you stop them? We are powerless\n\n\nagainst this mighty army that is about to attack us. We do not\n\n\nknow what to do\, but we are looking to you for help.”\n\n\n \n\n\n2 Chronicles 20:13-22\n\n\n13  As all the men of Judah stood before the Lord with their little\n\n\nones\, wives\, and children\,  14  the Spirit of the Lord came upon one\n\n\nof the men standing there. His name was Jahaziel son of\n\n\nZechariah\, son of Benaiah\, son of Jeiel\, son of Mattaniah\, a\n\n\nLevite who was a descendant of Asaph.\n\n\n15  He said\, “Listen\, all you people of Judah and Jerusalem! Listen\,\n\n\nKing Jehoshaphat! This is what the Lord says: Do not be afraid!\n\n\nDon’t be discouraged by this mighty army\, for the battle is not\n\n\nyours\, but God’s.  16  Tomorrow\, march out against them. You will\n\n\nfind them coming up through the ascent of Ziz at the end of the\n\n\nvalley that opens into the wilderness of Jeruel.  17  But you will not\n\n\neven need to fight. Take your positions; then stand still and watch\n\n\nthe Lord’s victory. He is with you\, O people of Judah and\n\n\nJerusalem. Do not be afraid or discouraged. Go out against them\n\n\ntomorrow\, for the Lord is with you!”\n\n\n18  Then King Jehoshaphat bowed low with his face to the ground.\n\n\nAnd all the people of Judah and Jerusalem did the same\,\n\n\nworshiping the Lord.  19  Then the Levites from the clans of Kohath\n\n\nand Korah stood to praise the Lord\, the God of Israel\, with a very\n\n\nloud shout.\n\n\n20  Early the next morning the army of Judah went out into the\n\n\nwilderness of Tekoa. On the way Jehoshaphat stopped and said\,\n\n\n“Listen to me\, all you people of Judah and Jerusalem! Believe in\n\n\nthe Lord your God\, and you will be able to stand firm. Believe in\n\n\nhis prophets\, and you will succeed.”\n\n\n21  After consulting the people\, the king appointed singers to walk\n\n\nahead of the army\, singing to the Lord and praising him for his\n\n\nholy splendor. This is what they sang:\n\n\n“Give thanks to the Lord;\n\n\n    his faithful love endures forever!”\n\n\n22  At the very moment they began to sing and give praise\,\n\n\nthe Lord caused the armies of Ammon\, Moab\, and Mount Seir to\n\n\nstart fighting among themselves.\n\n\n \n\n\nEphesians 6:10-18\n\n\n10  A final word: Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty\n\n\npower.  11  Put on all of God’s armor so that you will be able to\n\n\nstand firm against all strategies of the devil.  12  For we [a]  are not\n\n\nfighting against flesh-and-blood enemies\, but against evil rulers\n\n\nand authorities of the unseen world\, against mighty powers in this\n\n\ndark world\, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places.\n\n\n13  Therefore\, put on every piece of God’s armor so you will be able\n\n\nto resist the enemy in the time of evil. Then after the battle you\n\n\nwill still be standing firm.  14  Stand your ground\, putting on the belt\n\n\nof truth and the body armor of God’s righteousness.  15  For shoes\,\n\n\nput on the peace that comes from the Good News so that you will\n\n\nbe fully prepared. [b]   16  In addition to all of these\, hold up the shield\n\n\nof faith to stop the fiery arrows of the devil. [c]   17  Put on salvation as\n\n\nyour helmet\, and take the sword of the Spirit\, which is the word of\n\n\nGod.\n\n\n18  Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert\n\n\nand be persistent in your prayers for all believers everywhere.\n\n\n \n\n\nActs 16:22-34\n\n\n22  A mob quickly formed against Paul and Silas\, and the city\n\n\nofficials ordered them stripped and beaten with wooden\n\n\nrods.  23  They were severely beaten\, and then they were thrown\n\n\ninto prison. The jailer was ordered to make sure they didn’t\n\n\nescape.  24  So the jailer put them into the inner dungeon and\n\n\nclamped their feet in the stocks.\n\n\n25  Around midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing\n\n\nhymns to God\, and the other prisoners were listening.  26  Suddenly\,\n\n\nthere was a massive earthquake\, and the prison was shaken to its\n\n\nfoundations. All the doors immediately flew open\, and the chains\n\n\nof every prisoner fell off!  27  The jailer woke up to see the prison\n\n\ndoors wide open. He assumed the prisoners had escaped\, so he\n\n\ndrew his sword to kill himself.  28  But Paul shouted to him\, “Stop!\n\n\nDon’t kill yourself! We are all here!”\n\n\n29  The jailer called for lights and ran to the dungeon and fell down\n\n\ntrembling before Paul and Silas.  30  Then he brought them out and\n\n\nasked\, “Sirs\, what must I do to be saved?”\n\n\n31  They replied\, “Believe in the Lord Jesus and you will be saved\,\n\n\nalong with everyone in your household.”  32  And they shared the\n\n\nword of the Lord with him and with all who lived in his\n\n\nhousehold.  33  Even at that hour of the night\, the jailer cared for\n\n\nthem and washed their wounds. Then he and everyone in his\n\n\nhousehold were immediately baptized.  34  He brought them into his\n\n\nhouse and set a meal before them\, and he and his entire\n\n\nhousehold rejoiced because they all believed in God.
